Mechanoreceptor domains in GPIb. GPIbα contains two mechanosensitive domains (MSD), which support each other in signal transduction. The first domain is located in the leucine-rich repeat domain (LRRD) and the second one is between the macroglycopeptide domain and the trigger sequence. Upon VWF binding and pulling, both domains are unfolded and induce a cooperation for intracellular Ca2+ release, Rac1, LIMK, and platelet activation
